Played baseball at ORU from 1982-1984. Burns finished his career as ORU’s all-time saves leader. He was a First Team All-American in 1984. In 1983, Burns posted a remarkable 1.74 ERA, which at the time was third best in school history. Burns played six seasons in the major leagues, with the A’s, Rangers, and Cardinals. He was a member of three consecutive World Series teams in Oakland and helped the A’s win the World Series in 1989.
