Tempe, Ariz. - The Oral Roberts baseball team is on the road for the first time in 2025 as they take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in a three-game set.

The Golden Eagles look to keep their perfect start rolling coming off of a sweep over Arkansas Pine-Bluff last weekend, in which ORU outscored the Golden Lions 24 to 2.

Arizona State also boasts an unblemished record through four games, sweeping the Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend and defeating Austin Peay last Monday evening to improve to 4-0.  The Sun Devils have one of the most storied programs in college baseball reaching the College World Series 22 times, ranking fourth all-time in NCAA Baseball history.

Pitching Matchups:
LHP Weston Rouse (1-0, 0.00) vs. LHP Ben Jacobs (0-0, 9.00)
RHP Nathan Love (1-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Jack Martinez (0-0, 5.06)
LHP Trent Martin (1-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Jaden Alba (0-0, 4.50)

Inside the Series:
Arizona State leads the all-time series 8-4 over ORU.  The Golden Eagles last defeated the Sun Devils 5-2 on March 20th, 2011. ASU has won five of the last six meetings between the two schools.

Quick Hits:
  • RHP Nathan Love received Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week following 7.0 shutout innings over Arkansas Pine-Bluff in game two of Friday's doubleheader.
  • Head Coach Ryan Folmar reached 400 career wins at Oral Roberts after a game-one win last Friday
  • Wailele Kane-Yates and Cooper Combs both homered and drove in six runs in the series sweep over Arkansas Pine-Bluff, tied for the team lead in both categories

Scouting the Opponent:
Arizona State opened up its 2025 campaign with a sweep over the Big Ten's Ohio State Buckeyes in Tempe last weekend.  The offense was in no short supply as ASU tallied 33 runs across three games, including 17 on Sunday.

OF Brandon Compton and C Josiah Cromwick homered twice in the series and combined for 15 RBIs. Cromwick also sprinkled in two doubles, resulting in all four of his hits going for extra bases across the weekend.

Defensively, the Sun Devils surrendered 24 total runs over the weekend and didn't have a starting pitcher surpass 5.1 innings. RHP Jack Martinez had the longest start for ASU, allowing six hits and four runs, three of them earned, and struck out eight.

On Monday, The Dun Devils faced Austin Peay in Tempe and improved to 4-0 on the season, but it wasn't an easy path to victory.  The Governers took a 3-0 lead after three innings against RHP Rohan Lettow.  ASU would go on to score five unanswered in the fifth to continue their perfect start to 2025.

Arizona State's pitching staff runs deep, as 13 of their 17 pitchers have seen at least one inning of work either starting or out of the bullpen.  All three Sun Devil starters will be making their second of the year against the Golden Eagles.
