Makani Tanaka has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Second Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
The teams are selected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association, with the process overseen by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
A member of the Central Region Second Team, Tanaka appeared in and started all 59 games for the Golden Eagles this season. This is not the center fielder's first honor of the season, as he was named Summit League Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-League First Team. He was also named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week twice this season, first on March 3 after posting a .412 batting average over four games and again on April 28 after going 9-for-16 across four games against NDSU and driving in 10 runs.
The Honolulu, Hawai'i, native was one of the most reliable fielders in the conference, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. The left-hander was also exceptional offensively for the Golden Eagles, leading the team with a .323 batting average while totaling 81 hits and 54 RBI. He led the league with 14 home runs and ranked fourth nationally with seven triples.
