TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts baseball's
Makani Tanaka has been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District Team.
The teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Tanaka has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot.
A native of Honolulu, Hawai'i, Tanaka came to ORU after two seasons at Saddleback College. He recently graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Business Administration this spring. Tanaka finished with a 3.72 GPA and was a member of the 2024-25 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
The senior not only excelled in the classroom but also on the field. He was named the 2026 Summit League Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-League First Team. Tanaka was also named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week twice this season, first on March 3 after posting a .412 average in four games and again on April 28 after going 9-for-16 over four games against NDSU and driving in 10 runs.
A center fielder, Tanaka was one of the most reliable fielders in the conference, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage. The left-hander has also been exceptional offensively for the Golden Eagles, leading the team with a .323 batting average while totaling 81 hits and 54 RBI. He led the league with 14 home runs and ranks fourth nationally with seven triples.
