TULSA - Dallas Baptist erupted for 19 runs on 18 hits as the
Patriots defeated Oral Roberts University, 19-6, Friday night at
J.L. Johnson Stadium.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 12-5 on the year and lost
for the first time at home.
The Patriots (12-6) struck early by posting two runs in the first
and four in the second off ORU starter Andre
Lamontagne (0-1).
ORU scored single runs in the second and third to get on the board
and make it a 6-2 game.
Kyle Price notched an RBI triple off the wall in
left center in the second while Pat
Murray knocked in a run with an RBI single in the fourth.
That was as close as the Golden Eagles would get though as DBU
scored two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the
sixth.
Ryan Groth belted his third home run of the
season and second in as many days in the sixth with a two-run shot
scoring
David Genao.
The Patriots put the game away with a seven-run eighth to take a
commanding 18-6 lead.
Groth and Price each had two RBI to lead the Golden Eagles
offensive attack.
Lamontagne allowed five hits and six earned runs in 1.1 innings of
work.
The Golden Eagles used eight different pitchers in all while DBU
used three hurlers.
DBU's Chris McMullen improved to 3-1 with the win for the
Patriots.
ORU and DBU conclude their three-game series tomorrow at J.L.
Johnson Stadium. First pitch is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
