TULSA, Okla. -- Justin Ramsey pitched 4.1
shutout innings of relief and Kevin Lamb's RBI double in the
seventh was the difference as Oral Roberts defeated Oklahoma 3-2,
Tuesday night at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
A season-high crowd of 2,312 spectators watched Ramsey (3-0)
baffle the Sooners after coming on in relief of starter Kris Kline
with two outs and a runner on in the fifth in a 2-2 game. Ramsey
struck out Matt Bose to end the threat, and fanned a career-high
six batters with out a walk, setting down the game's final five
batters.
Oklahoma (14-23) took a 1-0 lead on Eddie Cornejo's RBI
fielder's choice in the first. Grant Plumley's two-run double gave
ORU (20-17) a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third.
The Sooners tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth on
a Brandon Jones RBI groundout.
The game remained tied at two until Lamb's two-out bloop double
down the leftfield line scored Scott Campbell for a 3-2 ORU lead.
Ramsey took care of the Sooners the rest of the way, striking out
the game's final two batters for the win.
Kline was solid in his sixth start of the season, allowing two
runs on five hits in 4.2 innings. Nate Griffin was 2-for-3 at the
plate to lead the Golden Eagles.
Buddy Blair (2-6) took the loss for Oklahoma, despite pitching
well. Blair allowed three runs on five hits over 6.2 innings,
walking just two and striking out three.
The Golden Eagles return to action when they host Missouri
Southern 7 p.m., Wednesday.
