Late Rally Secures #ORUBASE Series Win Over Northern Colorado

TULSA, Oklahoma – After trailing 2-0 through the first seven innings, the Oral Roberts baseball team rallied in the eighth to defeat Northern Colorado, 3-2. With the win, the Golden Eagles secured the series victory and moved to 8-0 in Summit League play.
 
Luke Williams (2-2) picked up the win out of the bullpen for Oral Roberts. The southpaw tossed one shutout inning without allowing a hit or walk while striking out two. Kash Ferris earned his second save of the season, throwing a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a hit.
 
Maddox Thornton also made an impact on the mound for the Golden Eagles, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit with one walk and one strikeout.
 
Northern Colorado built a two-run lead by the fifth inning, first scoring on a double in the third and adding another run on a single in the fifth.
 
The Golden Eagles' three-run eighth began with a walk by Hudson Ellis, who advanced to third on a single by Will Edmunson. Cooper Kelly followed with an RBI single to score Ellis and put ORU on the board.
   
After being out for nearly two weeks, Wailele Kane-Yates delivered a single to left field to score Edmunson.
   
Martell Davis then singled to move Kane-Yates into scoring position. Tyler Brodrick followed with an RBI single, driving in Kane-Yates for the final run of the day and giving ORU a 3-2 advantage.
   
Trevor Landen was charged with the loss after entering in relief in the seventh. He allowed three runs on five hits with one walk.
 
Up Next
The Golden Eagles will go for the series sweep Saturday at 2 p.m.
