TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team secured its second series win over South Dakota State, defeating the Jackrabbits 18-2 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Golden Eagles started the game strong, taking a 14-0 advantage after three innings. Cooper Combs opened the scoring in the second with a two-run shot to left field.
   
Will Edmunson followed with a home run to deep center, scoring Matthew Mainord, who had tripled, and Hudson Ellis, who reached on a walk.
   
Wailele Kane-Yates capped the scoring in the second with an RBI double, driving in Tanaka, who reached on a dropped third strike.
   
ORU continued with eight runs in the third, beginning with Matthew Mainord hitting his first career home run, scoring Combs and Ethan Fender, who had drawn walks.
   
Kane-Yates recorded his second RBI double of the afternoon to score Ellis. Martell Davis and Cooper Kelly followed with a pair of RBI singles, while Fender capped the inning with a single to score both runners.
   
The Golden Eagles extended their advantage to 16-0 in the fourth, first as Edmunson scored on a fielder's choice, then when Combs lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Kane-Yates.
 
Ellis scored on a single by Kane-Yates in the fifth, making it 17-0. The Jackrabbits scored their only runs of the day in the bottom of the frame, drawing two bases-loaded walks.
 
Kole Dudding entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh, reaching on a fielder's choice before moving to second on a Dawson Walls walk. Ellis singled through the right side to score Dudding with the final run of the day.
 
ORU reliever Will Yeary (1-0) earned the win after 1.2 innings on the mound, allowing no runs or hits.
 
SDSU starter Sam Novotny (2-4) was charged with the loss after throwing 2.0 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on four hits while walking three.
