NORMAN, OKLA. - The Oral Roberts baseball team capped off their nine-game road trip as they took down No. 14 Oklahoma on the road by a final of 5-3.

Keaton Ruthardt tossed 2.0 shutout innings, striking out two in the process to maintain the ORU lead down the stretch.Â

The script was flipped from the first meeting between the two teams as Oklahoma started quick this time, plating one run in the bottom half of the first after ORU went in order in the top half.

The Golden Eagles were quick to respond, however, scoring twice in the second thanks to a
Keaton Campbell RBI single driving in
Jack Schark and a
Matthew Brandt RBI single sending
Makani Tanaka home.

In the fourth, Oral Roberts got back on the board as
Ethan Fender grabbed his 18
th RBI of the season on a single scoring Schark to make it a 3-1 ballgame. Â In the bottom half, though, the Sooners got two runs back to even the game at three apiece.

The Golden Eagles struck back right away, however, as
Cooper Combs drove in his team-leading 36
th RBI on a single, scoring
Martell Davis, who led off the frame with a double to take the lead for good.

Weston Rouse,
Keaton Ruthardt, and
Cooper Moore all put up zeros in relief down the stretch to protect the one-run lead heading into the ninth inning. In the final frame,
Wailele Kane-Yates grabbed his first hit and drove Will Edmuson to give ORU a huge run of insurance.Â

In the bottom half,
Conner Floyd worked around a one-out walk to shut the door and grab his seventh save of the season, securing a 5-3 victory for ORU.Â
