TEMPE, Ariz. -  The Oral Roberts baseball team suffered defeat for the first time in 2025 as Arizona State's offense was too much en route to a 12-5 final. 
 
RHP Nathan Love made his second start of the season Saturday afternoon but was met with early adversity as the Sun Devils plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.
 
In the third, ASU would steal home for the second consecutive game and drive in three runs on a double and triple, all with two outs. 
   
Makani Tanaka continued his impressive series with a three-run homer to bring ORU back within four, his first long ball of the season.  He leads the team with five RBIs in the series.
 
Three more runs of insurance for the Sun Devils would come across over the sixth and seventh innings stretching the lead to seven.
 
Out of the bullpen freshman right hander Easton Teel made his second career appearance going a career long 2.0 innings surrendering one hit and on unearned run.  Fellow freshman righty Luke Puffinbarger followed that up with a scoreless eighth inning, his first appearance in an ORU uniform.
 
The Golden Eagle's bats had gone quiet in the later innings as they fell to Arizona State 12-5, evening the series at a game apiece.

-           Makani Tanaka's homer was the fifth hit by ORU in the series, all five coming from a different Golden Eagle
-           Jack Schark and Tanaka were the only two Golden Eagles with multi-hit performances, combining for all five RBIs in the loss
