#ORUMSOC Draws Even with the Golden Hurricane

The Basics
Score: Oral Roberts 2 – Tulsa 2
Record: RV/#24 ORU (2-2-2) –  Tulsa (1-3-1)
Location: Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Stadium

TULSA, Okla. – The ORU men's soccer team headed up to North Tulsa for the 29th Mayor's Cup match, and looked to retain the cup for the first time in program history.

In the opening action, the Golden Eagles attack would be stunted from creating any threatening chances, getting their first shot of the game off in the 27th minute.

Luis Flores who entered the match as a sub in the 24th minute would remind the home crowd why he is one of the most dangerous goal-scorers in the nation, nearly drawing a penalty kick soon after checking in.

However, in the dying minutes of the first half, Flores found his first goal of the season after beating the keeper and sending the ball past two defenders to put the Golden Eagles on the board first.

When both squads returned from the break, the Golden Hurricane was able to tie the game up in the first ten minutes, but Flores once again showed his elite form once again.

After a handball call on Tulsa resulted in a penalty kick for ORU, the senior forward buried the ball past the keeper bringing the advantage back to the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Hurricane were able to find yet another equalizer in the dying moments of the match, but ORU was able to limit the damage and retain the cup, walking away with a 2-2 tie.
