DALLAS – The No. 25 ORU men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season at No. 11 SMU Monday evening, 1-0, in Dallas, Texas.

Despite out-shooting SMU and having more total shots on goal, ORU could not connect with the back of the net in the second top 25 matchup in four days for the team. SMU broke through and scored in the 45^th minute with an unassisted goal by Jose Ortiz.

The Golden Eagles out-shot the Mustangs in the second half, 7-4, and had two shots on goal. In the 52^nd minute, Reed Berry sent a shot on goal that was saved and in 58^th minute, Thiago Patto sent a shot that was also saved by SMU's keeper.

In the final two minutes, Vitor Turnes and Patto each sent in a shot to try and tie the match, but both missed just high.
