WICHITA, Kan. – Drew Stahl homered for the fourth time in the last six games and the Oral Roberts baseball team held off a late rally to pick up a 6-5 road win at Wichita State Tuesday afternoon at Eck Stadium.

In the ninth, the Golden Eagles got a crucial insurance run as Jonah Cox scored from first on two throwing errors by the Wichita State pitcher. The junior's run turned out to be the game-winner as the Shockers plated two in the ninth and had the tying run 90 feet away before Cade Denton forced a pop-out and flyout to end the contest.

Joshua Caravalho registered his second straight win after striking out five over five shutout frames. The scoreless start marked the sophomore's second straight. In relief, Denton picked up his second save of the season.

On offense, Stahl logged his fifth multi-hit game in the last six contests after finishing the day 2-for-3 at the dish to go along with three RBIs and a walk. Cox extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. The junior also swiped two bases in the win.

Preston Baumgartner opened the scoring in the fourth with an RBI single up the middle, plating Stahl. An inning later, Mac McCroskey added to the lead with a sacrifice fly before Stahl blasted a three-run homer to left-center, increasing ORU's advantage to 5-0.

In the frame, the Golden Eagles' three hits prior to the homer didn't leave the infield.

The Shockers plated a run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to cut the ORU lead to 5-3.

In the ninth, the Golden Eagles got a key insurance run courtesy of two throwing errors by Wichita State that allowed Cox to score from first, extending ORU's advantage to 6-3.

Three straight Shocker singles to open the bottom half of the frame cut the lead to 6-4. Following a strikeout, Wichita State drew within one, 6-5, courtesy of back-to-back walks. With the tying run 90 feet away and the winning run on second, Denton recorded a pop-up and flyout to slam the door shut for the 6-5 victory.
