VERMILLION, S.D. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team fell on the road to Summit League foe South Dakota in straight sets (12-25, 13-25, 17-25) Thursday evening inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.Â
For the 20th time in the last 21 matches,
Trinity Freeman led the Golden Eagles in kills with eight on the night.
Thaynara de Jesus and
Hannah Jackson followed with four kills apiece.Â
Setter
Kalena Vaivai orchestrated the offensive attack as the senior totaled 14 assists in the match. On the defensive end, libero
Breanna Rivas led ORU with eight digs.Â
In the opening set, South Dakota used runs of 6-0, 6-1 and 4-1 en route to a 25-12 victory. The Coyotes followed with a 25-13 win in set two behind stretches of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0. In the third, South Dakota jumped out to an 8-1 advantage before ORU battled back to within three, 13-10, behind a 4-0 stretch. The Coyotes responded with four of the next six points, which gave them the cushion they needed as they went on to claim the set, 25-17, and the match.Â

- Freeman topped ORU in kills for the 23rd time this season and 47th time in her career.
- Rivas led the Golden Eagles in digs for the 12th time this year.Â
- Jaxie Wakley registered a team-high two blocks on the night.Â
