MOBILE, Ala. – The Oral Roberts baseball team dropped their final game of the South Alabama Invitational to Radford, 7-4, Sunday afternoon in Mobile, Alabama.

A five-run sixth inning for the Highlanders proved to be the difference in the contest as the ORU bats could not respond.

The Golden Eagles used some two-out magic in the second inning to open the scoring, plating four runs in the frame. Following a Jackson Loftin walk and Mac McCroskey single, Blake Shannon plated Loftin for the first run of the day with an RBI double to right field. Three pitches later, Connor Beichler ripped a double to left center to bring around McCroskey and Shannon to bump the lead to 3-0. Joshua Cox brought home Beichler for the final run of the inning with a single down the right field line.

Radford got a run back in the bottom half of the fourth on an RBI sacrifice fly to cut the Golden Eagle lead to 4-1.

After five solid innings of work from AJ Archambo, the senior ran into trouble in the bottom half of the sixth. Two Highlanders reached base via a walk and hit-by-pitch with only one out, ending the day for Archambo.

Radford then trimmed the lead to two, 4-2, courtesy of a bases loaded walk before the floodgates opened on a two-out fielding error by Loftin. Three runs came across the plate for the Highlanders, all unearned, following the error as Radford took their first lead of the day, 6-4.

The Highlanders tacked on another run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to center, increasing their lead to 7-4.

ORU brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth after walks by Justin Quinn and Alec Jones put two on with nobody out. Loftin brought home Quinn on a sacrifice fly to make it 7-5 but that was all the Golden Eagles could muster in the frame.
