ORU Falls in Finale at DBU

DALLAS, Texas – The Golden Eagles were unable to complete their first sweep of Dallas Baptist since 1989 on Sunday afternoon, falling 15-2 in Dallas, Texas.

ORU jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Blake Shannon singled to center field, scoring Isaac Coffey from second base. The knock was Shannon's first hit and RBI in a Golden Eagles uniform. DBU evened the score in the bottom half of the frame, before taking the lead in the fifth inning.

The Patriots added two runs in the sixth inning before changing all momentum in the contest with an 11 run seventh inning.

In the ninth inning, ORU added four runs in a feverish comeback attempt. Alec Jones got the frame going with a pinch-hit triple before Alex Sevensky knocked him in with a pinch-hit single. Dylan Criquet Danielson added his first RBI in a Golden Eagle jersey, plating Sevensky on a sacrifice fly. Blake Hall plated two runs to cut the deficit to 11, but the Golden Eagles were unable to push any more runs across.

Turning Point
11 consecutive Patriots reached base with two outs in the seventh inning, allowing DBU to score 10 runs in the span. DBU's 11 run seventh inning derailed all hopes of a Golden Eagle comeback in the contest.
