#ORUVB Takes Down Mavericks in Five-Set Win

The Basics
Score:
Omaha 2 – Oral Roberts 3
Records: UNO (9-8, 2-1 SL) – ORU (5-12, 1-2 SL)
Location: Aerobics Center (Tulsa, Okla.)

TULSA, Okla. – Hitting a ridiculous .600 in the fifth set, the Oral Roberts volleyball team won the final two sets Tuesday night to take down Omaha (21-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 15-12) at the Aerobics Center.

CeCe Madison was electric for the Golden Eagles offense posting 11 of her match-leading 20 kills in the final two sets as the home side rallied from a 2-1 deficit handing the Mavericks their first Summit League loss of the year.

After Omaha claimed the opening stanza by scoring seven of the last eight points, ORU fought right back turning an early four-point deficit into a major advantage behind an 11-1 run served up by Sarah Thiessen. The Mavericks ran away in set three and looked in control of the match, but the Golden Eagles used a 5-1 stretch to close a tight fourth set, which featured 10 ties, pushing the action into a fifth set.

Three quick kills from Madison in the deciding frame put ORU in front of Omaha, 3-1, and the home crowd helped the Golden Eagles to never relinquish the advantage despite comeback bids by the Mavericks securing the win, 15-12.
