TULSA, Okla. – A slow start by the Oral Roberts University volleyball team was too much to overcome Wednesday night falling 3-1 to UT Arlington in non-conference action.
The Mavericks jumped on the Golden Eagles early taking the first two sets as ORU rebounded with a win in the third set. However, UTA was able to rally back and close out the fourth set for a 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17 victory.
Laura Milos paced the way with a match-high 22 kills while Lucija Bojanjac earned her fourth double-double of the season with 42 assists and 13 digs.
Despite finishing with a hitting percentage at .196, the Golden Eagles never seemed out of the match. However, the Mavericks were able to edge ORU with a .291 hitting percentage and added 10.5 blocks on the defensive side of the net to close out the win.
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Laura Milos posted 22 kills while Shelby Cox added 12 kills. Lucija Bojanjac tallied 42 assists and 13 digs.
UT Arlington: Qiana Canete led UTA with 19 kills while Stacey Koch finished with 16 kills and a .361 hitting percentage. Cassidy Wheeler finished with 43 assists on the offensive side of the net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Laura Milos finished with 22 kills giving her four matches this season with more than 20 kills.
- Shelby Cox has now posted at least 10 kills in three straight matches. However it was the first match during that span Cox hit below .300 posting a .192 hitting percentage.
- ORU built leads in both the first and fourth set; however the Golden Eagles could not overcome a combined 15 errors in those two sets while UTA tallied just eight.
- The Golden Eagles posted their most attacks this season in a four set match with 148.

ORU will host the University of Tulsa Friday night at the Aerobics Center. The match is schedule to start at 6 p.m.
