ORU Volleyball Falls In Four Sets At Cross-Town Rival Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University volleyball team lost, 1-3, to cross-town rival Tulsa (25-13, 16-25, 25-19, 25-15) at the Reynolds Center Tuesday evening.

The Golden Hurricanes snapped a four-match winning streak for the Golden Eagles as they are now 11-6 overall, while TU improves to 16-4 on the season. ORU still holds the all-time series 54-22.

ORU was led by senior middle blocker JoJo Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) who recorded 12 kills, three service aces and three block assists on the night. Senior outside hitter Janete Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded eight kills, while sophomore Jocelyn Swier (Ripon, Calif.) added seven kills. Senior setter Thais Parada (Sao Paulo, Brazil) earned her first double-double on the year with 25 assists and 11 digs and senior libero Carol Garbato (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also added 11 digs on the night.

Tulsa was led by Jennifer Eichler's 15 kills, as she hit .636 and Hannah Stout tallied 13 kills. Rachel Vukson registered 45 assists and nine digs while Malorey Grove added 17 digs.

The Golden Eagles were out hit .274-.066, while TU also recorded 14 more kills (52-38), 13 more assists (49-36), nine more digs (59-50) and five more blocks (17-12).

ORU resumes league play this weekend at UMKC on Friday, Oct. 10 and at Centenary on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.
