CHICAGO, Ill. ?" ORU?s Kim Snow
(DeKalb, Ill.) registered 12 kills and hit a match-high .667,
leading the Golden Eagles past Chicago State, 3-0 (30-13, 30-15,
30-19), Friday night in non-conference action. Snow did not record
an error in 18 total attacks while adding a pair of blocks on the
night.
ORU
(18-7) did not trail in game one, using a 5-0 spurt to take a
comfortable 14-7 lead. The Cougars (0-25) did not get closer than
six points the rest of the way, cruising to their 30-13 game one
win.
It was
more of the same in game two as a pair of Ori
Zuzic (Porec, Croatia) kills fueled a game-opening 6-1
run. The Golden Eagles continued to roll from there, hitting .378
as a team for the game, while limiting CSU to a .045 mark in the
30-15 win. Jackie Oliveira (Minas Gerais, Brazil)
totaled four kills in game two, hitting .500.
Game
three was another wire to wire win for ORU with Zuzic again leading
the way. She started things off with a pair of kills and the Golden
Eagles raced off to a 12-4 lead. The Cougars would later rally and
cut the deficit to 16-12, but that?s as close as they
would get as ORU closed the match with a 30-19 victory.
Zuzic
finished the night with nine kills and 12 digs, while Oliveira
added nine kills and hit .615.
The ORU
defense held the home squad to a .040 attack percentage for the
match, led by Cris Alves? (Sao
Caetano, Brazil) match-high 18 digs.
The
Golden Eagles will close out their three-game road swing Saturday
as they visit IUPUI in a Mid-Con match.
