The Oral Roberts University volleyball team defeated IUPUI 3-0
Friday evening in the opening match of the Mid-Continent Conference
Tournament on the campus of Valparaiso University. The game scores
were 32-30, 30-26, 30-24.
Freshman outside hitter Ori Zuzic led ORU with 26 kills and
committed just four errors while hitting .478. Her 26 kills set a
new Mid-Con Tournament record for a three-game match. The previous
record of 21 was held by former ORU standout Juliana Moser. Zuzic
totaled 13 of her kills in game two.
Junior outside hitter Becky Dreher contributed a double-double of
12 kills and 17 digs. Nine of Dreher's digs came in game one.
Freshman setter Maura Cicala tossed up 49 assists.
Two-time Mid-Con Player of the year Rebekah Pallikan led IUPUI with
13 kills and three blocks. Erin Jones came up with 12 digs for the
Jaguars.
ORU hit .310 as a team while IUPUI hit .200. During game three, ORU
hit .348 compared to .159 by IUPUI.
ORU elevated its record to 21-12, while IUPUI dropped to 16-15.
ORU will face the winner of Valparaiso/UMKC at 7:00 Saturday night
on the campus of Valparaiso.
