Â
TULSA, Okla. – Late game heroics by
Issac McBride and a career night by
JoJo Moore helped the Oral Roberts men's basketball team its first Summit League win of the season, defeating North Dakota 83-79 inside the Mabee Center.
Â
In a highly contested first half, ORU found itself up by one at the break despite leading just 1:38 of the opening half.
JoJo Moore and
Issac McBride found their groove early as the duo combined for 31 of ORU's 43 first-half points. The Fighting Hawk forced nine Golden Eagle turnovers in the first half and converted them into 12 points off turnovers. ORU, however, would close the half on a 7-0 run behind four free throws by Moore and a three from
Jalen Miller.
Â
The second half was just as back-and-forth and saw six different lead changes as neither team could extend a lead past six points. Clutch plays on both sides of the ball helped the Golden Eagles hold the Fighting Hawks at bay down the stretch. In a one-point game with 3:02 remaining,
JoJo Moore denied Amar Kuliuhovic at the rim but was called for goaltending. After official review, however, the call was reversed, and the Golden Eagles were awarded possession of the ball. Twenty seconds later,
Darius Robinson Jr. buried a midrange jumper to put ORU up one. Following a UND layup on the other end,
Josh Jones found Moore on a backdoor cut, who jammed it home, extending the lead back to three. Up three with nine seconds remaining, McBride iced the game with a step-back as the shot clock expired to secure the win for the Golden Eagles.
