Vaqueros vs Golden Eagles

• ORU currently leads the all-time series 4-3-1, and have not lost to UTRGV at home since October 6, 1996.
• Since their first meeting in 1993, the Golden Eagles are 2-3 when playing the Vaqueros at home.
• Last meeting the two squads came away with a 1-1 tie back on August 27, 2022.

Scouting UTRGV

• The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Houston Christian (HCU) Huskies in a non-conference match Wednesday at Sorrels Field.
• UTRGV welcomes back 16 from last season's squad that is led by the likes of Kgodiso Sukati, Jason Robles, Cade Erickson, and Keaviano Francis, who was named to the WAC All-Freshman Team in 2023.
• The Vaqueros were picked to finish ninth in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) this season.

Texas 2-Step

• Omar Mora is currently tied for 2nd in the Summit Leagues' Total Points (12) and is tied for first on the Total Goals leaderboards (6).
• Luis Flores, the reigning Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, is currently seventh in Total Points (7) and is perfect in penalty kick situations.  
•  The two forwards have combined for three braces against #24 Kentucky (Mora), #24 UCSB (Mora), and Tulsa (Flores).

Milestone Watch

• Jakub Grzesiak is two saves away from 50 career saves.

Running it Back

• Head Coach Ryan Bush enters the season 8 wins shy of hitting the century mark of career wins at ORU (92-71-27)
• Luis Flores enters the year listed as one of United Soccer Coaches' 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Players to Watch after a 2023 campaign that saw him break ORU single-season goals scored record (15).
• Flores and Schinieder Mimy were selected to the Summit League Preseason Players to Watch list. This is the second consecutive Player to Watch honor for Mimy and the first for Flores.
• At the end of this past summer, Brian McCurdy was promoted to Associate Head Coach.
• Along with Mimy and Flores, ORU returns starters Jakub Grzesiak, Juan Moreno, and Thiago Patto back for the 2024 season.
