ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 26 Oral Roberts men's soccer team fell short, 1-0, in the final minutes at Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorite Saint Louis Tuesday evening on the road in St. Louis, Missouri.
Defense was key in the game Tuesday evening as the Golden Eagles and Billikens held each other scoreless through 87 minutes of play. In the first half both teams managed five shots on goal combined with ORU leading with three.
Jakub Grzesiak made two saves in the first half and
Reed Berry had two shots on goal.
In the second half, Oral Roberts upped its offensive attack and had five shots on goal. The Golden Eagle defense did not allow a Billiken to have a shot on goal until the 87
th minute when SLU's CJ Coppola managed to score the game winning goal. Unfortunately, time was not on ORU's side late in the match and despite out-playing Saint Louis, the Golden Eagles fell, 1-0.
