#ORUWBB Rallies for Overtime Win at Omaha, 94-90

OMAHA, Neb. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team rallied from a 14-point deficit to record their fourth straight win Saturday afternoon as they defeated Omaha, 94-90, in overtime inside Baxter Arena. 

Hannah Cooper put together a strong all-around performance for the Golden Eagles as the senior poured in a team-best 25 points, dished out a game-high six assists and pulled down five rebounds. The 20-plus point performance was Cooper's second straight and 10th of the season. 

The Summit League's leading three-point shooter, Delaney Nix, totaled 21 points and knocked down four triples in the win. Nix has now reached double-figures in five of the last six contests. 

Ariel Walker and Tirzah Moore rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Golden Eagles with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Moore also added a team-best 12 rebounds to register her fourth straight double-double. Off the bench, Sara Rodrigues contributed with nine points and seven rebounds. 

Behind back-to-back threes from Walker, the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 start before the Mavericks broke the run at the 6:50 mark with a layup. Following a Rodrigues layup that put ORU up 16-10 with 2:24 left in the quarter, Omaha answered with a 10-2 run to close the period with a 20-18 advantage. Despite trailing, the Golden Eagles shot 41.2 percent from the field compared to Omaha's 36.8 percent.

ORU regained the lead, 28-27, at the 6:24 mark of the second quarter behind a 5-0 stretch that was capped off by a Cooper triple. The Mavericks fired back with a 7-2 run to jump back in front, 34-30, at the under-five media timeout. Out of the stoppage, Omaha extended their stretch to 11-2 as their lead bloomed to eight, 38-30, as 1:37 remained in the half. Walker drew ORU to within three with her third triple of the half but Omaha answered with an and-one on the final possession of the quarter to take a 43-37 advantage into the break.

A 9-2 run to open the third by the Mavericks gave them their largest lead of the contest, 52-38, at the 6:20 mark. During the stretch, the Golden Eagles were held scoreless for 3:04. ORU responded with the next six points to trim the deficit to eight, 52-44, forcing an Omaha timeout with 5:02 remaining. Out of the break, the Golden Eagle run stretched to 16-2 as they regained the lead, 54-52, with 2:21 showing on the clock. During the run, all five starters contributed for ORU. After the Mavericks jumped back in front, 58-56, Rodrigues closed the quarter with a three from the left wing as the Golden Eagles took a 59-58 advantage into the fourth. 

Omaha netted the first basket of the fourth but ORU answered with the next seven points to take a 66-60 lead at the 8:22 mark. Heading into the under-five media timeout, the Golden Eagles matched their largest lead of the night, 73-66, following a Nix layup. Out of the stoppage, Omaha used an 11-2 run to regain the lead with 1:54 left on the clock. Nix put ORU back in front, 78-77, with a 30-plus foot three-pointer, forcing a Maverick timeout with 1:22 remaining in the quarter. Both teams split a pair of free throws on their next possessions as the score evened at 79-79 with :52 ticks showing on the clock. Neither team found the back of the net in the closing seconds as the contest headed to overtime. 

ORU opened overtime on a 7-0 run as they took an 86-79 lead with 3:23 left in the contest. Four straight points from the Mavericks drew them to within three, 90-87, with :43 ticks remaining. Out of an Omaha timeout, Walker banked in her fourth triple of the afternoon to put ORU back up six, 93-87, as :16 ticks showed on the clock. After the Mavericks answered with a three, Udoumoh split a pair of free throws as the Golden Eagles went on to win, 94-90. In overtime, Udoumoh shined for ORU as the junior netted six of her eight points. 

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Cooper paced the ORU offense as the senior totaled a team-best 25 points and dished out a game-high six assists. Nix followed Cooper with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

Omaha: Elena Pilakouta led all players with 30 points and 15 rebounds on the afternoon. 
                                                                                                                                                 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Golden Eagles were strong from behind the arc in the win as they finished with a season-high 12 threes on the afternoon.
- ORU shot 43.6 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three.
- Defensively, the Golden Eagles held Omaha to 26.1 percent from the three-point line.
- ORU won the battle on the boards, 47-40.
- Moore (12), Rodrigues (7), Udoumoh (6) and Walker (6) each registered at least six rebounds in the win.
- The Golden Eagles registered 21 points off of 15 Maverick turnovers.

- Cooper topped ORU with two steals.

- With the win, the Golden Eagles are now 15-3 all-time against the Mavericks and have won five straight in the series.

- ORU surpasses 90-plus points for the third straight game and the sixth time this season.
- Cooper totaled 20-plus points for the second straight game and 10th time this year. The senior has also now reached double-digits in 17 straight games. 
- Moore logged her fourth straight double-double and 12th of the season.
- Nix registered 20-plus points for the fourth time this season.
