TULSA, Okla. – Despite a 15-point performance from Tirzah Moore, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team had their three-game win streak snapped as they fell on the road to Summit League foe South Dakota State, 85-48, Thursday evening at Frost Arena in Brookings, South Dakota.Â
Moore made the opening basket of the contest and sparked a 6-2 surge for the Golden Eagles in the opening 2:10 of the contest. The Jackrabbits responded with a 12-4 stretch to take a 14-10 advantage with 4:05 left in the period. Regan Schumacher stopped the bleeding momentarily with a layup but South Dakota State closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 23-14 advantage into the second.
The Jackrabbits pushed their lead to double figures, 26-16, for the first time on the evening at the 8:16 mark. The two sides traded the next eight points before SDSUÂ used a 6-1 stretch to take their largest lead of the half, 36-21, with 2:50 remaining in the half. Hannah Cooper netted a three-pointer with 26 ticks left on the clock to trim the Jackrabbits lead to 11, 40-29, at the break.
A 16-4 run by SDSU to open the second half pushed their advantage to 23, 56-33, with 5:19 left in the quarter. A pair of free throws by Keni Jo Lippe stopped the Jackrabbits run momentarily but SDSU netted 12 of the final 20 points of the quarter to take a 68-41 lead into the fourth.
A Jackrabbit jumper at the 7:36 mark stretched their lead to 30, 73-43, for the first time on the night. South Dakota State reached their largest lead of the game, 82-46, with 3:24 left in the contest. Nena Taylor scored the final basket of the night for the Golden Eagles as SDSU went on to win 84-48.
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Moore led ORU in scoring for the fifth straight game, finishing with 15 points and four rebounds. Cooper joined Moore as the only other Golden Eagle in double figures, netting 10 points.
South Dakota State:Â Myah Selland scored a game-high 20 points and Tori Nelson tallied 13 points to lead the Jackrabbits.
