#ORUWBB Welcomes Denver for New Year's Eve Matchup

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball closes out the 2022 calendar year with a New Year's Eve matchup against Summit League foe Denver Saturday inside the Mabee Center at 2 p.m.

Quick Hits
• For the fifth straight game and ninth time this season, Hannah Cooper led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 19 points in their 75-63 win over Omaha Thursday. The El Paso, Texas, native continues to top ORU in scoring (20.2) on the season and her points per game increase of 13.7 ranks third in the country.

• Entering the weekend, Cooper ranks inside the top 3 in 11 different Summit League statistical categories and tops the conference in assists (63), free throws made (75) and total points (283). Nationally, the senior sits fifth in free throws made, eighth in total points, 13th in field goals made (98) and 20th in points per game.

• Preseason All-Summit League First Team selection Tirzah Moore returned for ORU following a three-game absence and registered her sixth double-double of the season after finishing with 12 points in 11 rebounds against the Mavericks. 

• For the season, Moore leads the league in double-doubles, field goal percentage (57.7) and defensive rebounds per game (7.3). Nationally, the sophomore ranks 14th in rebounds per game (10.9), 19th in double-doubles and 19th in defensive rebounds per game.

• Ruthie Udoumoh is coming off her first career double-double after the junior posted 16 points and a game-best 12 rebounds in the Golden Eagles win over Omaha. The 12 rebounds were a career-high for the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, native.

• In the win over the Mavericks, Moore and Udoumoh became the first pair of ORU teammates to record double-doubles in the same contest since Manaya Jones and Regan Schumacher on December 10, 2020.

• Sharpshooter Delaney Nix currently sits third among the conference in three-pointers made with 30. 

• ORU is coming off a difficult non-conference slate that featured three 2022 NCAA Tournament qualifiers, four Power 5 opponents and seven road contests. 

• The Golden Eagles are led by head coach Kelsi Musick, who enters her first season at the helm. Musick and her staff returned six players from last season's squad and welcomed eight newcomers, three freshmen and five transfers, in the offseason.

• In her 14th season as a head coach, Musick holds a 263-135 career record.

• In the Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Golden Eagles were selected to finish third.


Inside the Matchup
• Saturday's contest marks the 18th meeting all-time between ORU and Denver.

• The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series, 10-7, and have won two of the last three against the Pioneers. Inside the Mabee Center, ORU is 5-2 all-time against DU.

• The Pioneers enter Saturday's matchup with a 5-7 record after defeating Kansas City, 73-60, in their Summit League opener Thursday.

• Three DU players average double-figures on the season led by Emma Smith's 12.7 points per game.

• In the Preseason Summit League Coaches' Poll, the Pioneers were picked to finish eighth.
