TULSA, Okla. Max Abmas moved to eighth all-time in scoring in ORU history as the Oral Roberts men's basketball team smothered Central Arkansas, 111-78, Saturday evening at the Mabee Center.
 
Abmas recorded a season high 31 Saturday evening as he surpassed Tim Gill (1994-98) and Warren Niles (2009-13) to move to eighth all-time in points scored at ORU. The Texas native now has 1,989 career points and is 30 points shy of Ken Tutt (2003-07) for seventh all-time. The Golden Eagles had their best shooting night of the season going 59.4 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from three-point range.
 
Oral Roberts controlled the entire game Saturday evening as Abmas got things started going three-for-three from long range for his first nine points of the game. Just seven minutes in, the Golden Eagles had a double-digit lead, thanks to a 12-0 run. With 8:53 to play in the first half, Patrick Mwamba put ORU on top by 20 with a three-point bucket of his own. Central Arkansas did not quit as the Bears mustered a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to pull back to within 10. The Golden Eagles would go back up by 21 before UCA clawed back to make it a 54-39 game going into halftime. Abmas scored 24 points in the first 20 minutes going 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-9 from deep. Issac McBride followed it up with 10 points of his own as ORU shot 51.5 percent from the field and 68.8 percent from beyond the arc.
 
The Golden Eagles continued their hot shooting in the second half. Midway through, ORU went on a 15-0 run to lead, 92-57. Nate Clover III came in the game and scored his first bucket with 5:12 on the clock to put ORU in triple digits. With 4:38 to play, Mwamba scored his 12th point of the night on a dunk off a beautiful skip pass from Cam Amboree. ORU would close out the game after a pair of free-throws by Trey Phipps to win, 111-78, for the team's fourth-straight victory.
 
For the seventh-straight game ORU had four or more players score in double figures. Behind Abmas' 31, Carlos Jurgens and McBride each added 18, followed by Phipps with 13 and Mwamba with 12. The Golden Eagles improve to 5-3 all-time against Central Arkansas and are 5-0 when facing the Bears at the Mabee Center.

Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts: Abmas scored a season high 31 points and Mwamba pulled down seven rebounds.

Central Arkansas: Eddy Kayouloud scored 20 on the night and grabbed five rebounds. Camren Hunter also had five boards.
