DENVER – The Oral Roberts men's soccer team fell short Thursday afternoon, 3-2, in the Summit League Championship semifinal match against Kansas City in Denver, Colorado.

Defense was key in the first half as neither team was able to score a goal. Combined Kansas City and ORU had five total shots with the Roos having one and the Golden Eagles managing four with one on goal. The lone shot on goal came from the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year Felipe D'Agostini.

In the second half, KC took a 1-0 lead in the 67th minute when Edson Murguia connected with the back of the net. Murguia received the ball, almost turned it over, but was able to recover and score on an assist by Shfeo Lar. The Roos then took a 2-0 lead in the 79th minute with a goal by first teamer Christian Koffi. Koffi extended his team's lead with a shot to the upper right corner.

Down two goals with just under six minutes to play, Logan Bellone was fouled by Kansas City inside the penalty area and ORU earned the chance of a penalty kick. D'Agostini took the shot and scored his eighth goal of the season and made it a 2-1 match. As time ticked away, the Golden Eagles never gave up. With seconds left in the match Bellone sent the ball forward to Andrew Nunez who then passed it up to D'Agostini. D'Agostini tied the match, 2-2, with just three seconds left on the game clock. It was his ninth goal of the season and Bellone and Nunez each earned an assist.

After sending the match to extra time, Kansas City regained the lead in the 95th minute to make it 3-2 on a free kick by Arne Neufang. Due to the new NCAA overtime rules in postseason play, it was not a golden goal and the teams played out the remaining 15 minutes. Despite another effort by D'Agostini in the 100th minute and Reed Berry in the 107th minute, ORU came up just short. On the day, D'Agostini had seven shots with five on goal and two goals.
