TULSA, Okla. Kareem Thompson captured his first career double-double in the Oral Roberts men's basketball team's 80-76 win Thursday evening against North Dakota at the Mabee Center.
 
Five Golden Eagles scored in double-digits Thursday evening as Max Abmas led the way with 19 points. Thompson and DeShang Weaver each had 15, Trey Phipps scored 11 and Issac McBride recorded 10 points. It was the second consecutive game the Golden Eagles had five double-figure scorers.
 
North Dakota started the game strong going on an 8-0 run to take an early lead. The Fighting Hawks then extended their run, 11-2. ORU went on a 9-0 run of its own to tie the game six minutes in. UND would then go back up by seven before ORU stormed back to tie and take a one point lead on an Abmas three with 4:34 to go. The two teams exchanged leads down the stretch in the first half before back-to-back buckets allowed the Golden Eagles to lead 39-32 at the break.
 
ORU led by as much as 14 in the second half when Weaver made a layup with 16 minutes to play. A 9-0 North Dakota run made it a five point game as the Fighting Hawks battled to keep it close. After ORU took a 10 point lead, UND wouldn't be denied and sparked a 10-3 run to make it a three point game with 10 minutes left. Two minutes later, UND tied the game 62-62. However, the Golden Eagles wouldn't give up the lead the remainder of the game. After North Dakota tied the game, 76-76, with 47 seconds to play, Abmas hit his only field goal of the second half to give the Golden Eagles a two point lead. With six second left, McBride knocked down two free-throws to lift the Golden Eagles to an 80-76 victory.
 
North Dakota had three score in double-digits with Paul Bruns leading with 18. The Fighting Hawks went 11-for-39 from the three-point line and shot 40 percent overall from the field. UND had 18 offensive rebounds for 22 second chance points.
 
Turning Point
UND tied the game with seconds remaining as Abmas knocked down a floater for his only field goal of the second half to give ORU its final lead.      

Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts: Abmas ended the night with 19 points and Thompson grabbed 11 rebounds.

North Dakota: Paul Bruns captured 18 points and Brady Danielson grabbed 11 rebounds.

- The Golden Eagles scored 48 points in the paint. ORU's bench production secured 23 points.
 
- ORU 49.2 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
 
- UND shot 40.3 percent overall and 28.2 percent from long range.
 
- ORU was out-rebounded by UND, 46-34. The Golden Eagles secured seven offensive rebounds.
 
News and Notes
- For his 15th consecutive game, Abmas had 10-plus points. It was his eighth-straight game to lead ORU in scoring.
 
- The Golden Eagles have now won six-straight and are 8-1 at the Mabee Center.
 
- Thompson's double-double was the first of his career. It was also the second time this season to have a double-digit rebounding night.
