Golden Eagles Soar with Win over NKU

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's soccer team scored the game winning goal with less than five minutes remaining to upend Northern Kentucky, 2-1, Friday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.

ORU was able to get 10 shots off in the first half, but the Golden Eagles and Norse were scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play.

Reed Berry connected for his first goal of the season to put ORU on top in the 76th minute. Berry received the ball past the NKU defense and scored one-on-one with the goalkeeper from 12 yards out. Giovanni Herrera was credited with the assist.

In the 84th minute, Dylan Bufton tied the match, 1-1, and earned his second goal of the season after connecting on a Deryn Armstrong assist.

Felipe D'Agostini scored the game winning goal for ORU in the 86th minute, to lock in a 2-1 score. Herrera sent a corner kick to the middle that was then deflected out to D'Agostini. D'Agostini then sent a strike to the back of the net from 19 yards out.

- ORU had 22 shots on the day with seven on goal. NKU took a total of 11 shots with five on goal.
- Miles Motakef played 90 minutes and recorded four saves. Motakef holds a 2-1 record on the season.
- Summit League Player to Watch, Reed Berry, scored his first goal of the season. It was his 17th career goal.
- Felipe D'Agostini grabbed his first goal in a Golden Eagle uniform and Giovanni Herrera recorded two assists on the night.
- The Golden Eagles had 15 corner kicks in the contest.
- There were 16 fouls in the match and one yellow card was handed out.

ORU will close out the homestand with a contest against Bradley Monday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. inside the Case Soccer Complex.
