TULSA, Okla. – The ORU men's soccer team opened the 2021 regular season with a 3-1 loss at home to the No. 16 Loyola Marymount Lions Thursday evening.
Jack Sauls scored the first goal of the night for LMU in the 31
st minute. Sauls shot the ball to the upper left corner of the goal to connect with the back of the net. Dylan Shockey was credited with the assist.
Dante Brigida recorded his first goal of the season when he scored with one second remaining in the first half of play. Brigida toed the back line and scored from left to right off a goal kick by
Miles Motakef that was then headed to him by
Andrew Nunez. Motakef and Nunez both earned assists.
Loyola Marymount took a 2-1 lead in the 59
th minute on a penalty kick by Noel Caliskan. Caliskan shot the ball to the lower right corner of the goal.
Nick Dauchot scored the third goal for the Lions in the 80
th minute. Dauchot received the ball from Caliskan on a free kick to score from right to left on the back side of the defense.
