TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Western Illinois at the Case Soccer complex on Sunday afternoon.
Western Illinois opened the scoring in the 7
th minute with a goal from just inside the penalty box.
In the 24
th minute, the Golden Eagles proved the point that good defense is the best offense.
Christa Van Loon forced a turnover inside the penalty area and immediately beat the Leathernecks keeper on the equalizer.
The Leathernecks responded with their second goal of the half in the 33
rd minute. ORU goalkeeper
Louisa Ramsauer made a diving save but the ball trickled away from her, allowing the Leathernecks to find the net.
After halftime, neither team managed to score again allowing Western Illinois to take their 2-1 lead all the way to the final whistle.

- Van Loon's goal marks her team-leading second goal of the season.
- The Leathernecks landed just one more shot on goal, 7-6.
- ORU took five more corner kicks than Western Illinois, holding the Leathernecks to just one corner.
