TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's soccer team claimed its first Summit League victory with a 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois in Saturday's league opener.
The Golden Eagles and Panthers were scoreless after the first 45 minutes. ORU had many opportunities with six shots in the first half, four being on goal. Eastern Illinois didn't manage to get a shot off in the first half as the teams were scoreless.
Dante Brigida put ORU ahead, 1-0, in the 70
th minute for his first goal of the game and season. With the offensive advantage,
Shane Anderson dribbled the ball down the right side with a pass to the middle that was touch by
Reed Berry before scored by Brigida from left to right. Anderson and Berry were credited with assists.
Brigida recorded a brace in the 89
th minute with a score from left to right from inside the goal area.
Juan Arias placed the ball to the left post from inside the penalty area where he found Brigida for the goal and 2-0 advantage. Arias earned his second assist of the season.
