• ORU never trailed and led for all but 18 seconds of a 43-point win over Haskell Thursday night getting 22 points off the bench from
Trey Phipps as the sophomore made five 3-pointers.
Sir Issac Herron made his first collegiate start a memorable one as he tallied a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
•
Max Abmas leads the Golden Eagles averaging 18.0 points per game, while five others are scoring 10 or more points per game. Abmas was named a Preseason All-American by multiple outlets and is on the NABC Player of the Year and Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year watch lists.
• ORU is making 14.7 triples per game thanks to a school record 21 in its home opener against Southwestern Christian Nov. 12 and have made double digits in all three outings.
• The Golden Eagles currently rank third in the NCAA averaging 96.7 points per game and also are third pulling down 20 offensive rebounds a contest. Thanks to a five-assist outing in his first college start Thursday,
Jamie Bergens is now eighth in the nation behind a 9:1 assist to turnover ratio.
• Despite winning the tournament title last year, ORU was picked to finish third in The Summit League Preseason Poll, behind South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
• The Golden Eagles return 10 letterwinners, including three starters, and add five new faces for 2021-22 with two transfers and three freshmen.
Scouting the Opponent
• ORU owns a 4-2 record in the all-time series against Central Arkansas, but are 1-2 away from home. The Golden Eagles won the previous two meetings, both of which happened in 2014 when each side was a member of the Southland Conference.
• The Bears have lost all three games during the young season with all coming on the road as they face ORU in their home opener Saturday.
• Eddy Kayouloud is the only UCA player to average double-digit scoring at 10.0 per game, all coming off the bench, while Camren Hunter (9.0) and Darious Hall (8.7) aid the offense. The Bears have played in front of an average crowd of 6,200 in their first three games leading to 63 total turnovers.
