TULSA, Okla. – Tierney Coleman scored a career high 18 points in the Oral Roberts women's basketball team's 71-60 win over Rogers State Monday evening at the Mabee Center.
Rogers State started the game strong by going 73 percent from the field. The Hillcats took an early six-point lead. Lilly Garner scored 11 of Rogers State's 25 first quarter points as the Hillcats finished the first with a 25-21 lead. RSU finished the opening period shooting 67 percent from the field.
Manaya Jones led ORU with eight first quarter points.
ORU took the lead back in the second after a pair of free-throws by
Tierney Coleman. ORU then went on a 13-0, 16-2 run, highlighted with 11 points by Coleman to go up by nine. Coleman closed out the second scoring 15 points in the period. The Golden Eagles scored 26 of their 43 first half points in the paint with only five turnovers and had a 43-34 lead. The defense held Rogers State to only nine points in the second.
The Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the game in the fourth with a three-pointer by
Ariel Walker, her second of the game. With six minutes remaining, the Hillcats pulled to within four.
Regan Schumacher secured her third double-double of the season with her 10
th point of the game with three minutes to play. The senior center put ORU up by seven. The Golden Eagles then went up by 11. Down the stretch, ORU pulled away, going up by as much as 13.
Schumacher scored 12 points and secured a new career high in rebounding with 17.
Tierney Coleman scored a career/season high 18 points. Coleman went 7-for-19 from the field and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.
