TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts men's tennis team split its two matches this weekend grabbing a 7-0 win over Prairie View A&M, but fell 7-0 to ACU Friday in Abilene, Texas.
The doubles duo of Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Barnabas Koncz went 2-0 in doubles play with a 7-6 win at the No. 1 spot against Abilene Christian and a 7-5 win against Prairie View A&M. The pair is 4-1 on the season in doubles action.
"Overall it was a positive day for the guys in Abilene," Head Coach Mark Milner said. "We were up against a tough ACU team who has a lot of experience."
ORU swept Prairie View A&M, 7-0, Friday after winning one through six in singles and all three doubles matches. Marcello Moreira returned from injury and won at No. 2 doubles with Andre Russo, 6-3. Moreira also swept Rodrigo Yoshikata, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 3 singles spot.
Newcomer Jonathan Evans also swept T. Washington at the No. 6 singles spot, 6-0, 6-0.
"The guys withstood a strong push by Prairie View A&M, but were ultimately able to close it," Milner said. "We are playing better and better each match and we are looking forward to being back home next weekend against Eastern Illinois."
Up Next: The men's tennis team will be back in action Friday, February 8 at 6 p.m. against Eastern Illinois at Philcrest Tennis Center.
