DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – An exciting finish saw the Oral Roberts men's tennis team knock off Bethune-Cookman, 4-3, Thursday in non-conference action at the City Island Tennis Courts.
The Golden Eagles outlasted the Wildcats in a match that took nearly three and half hours and incredible comeback win at No. 5 singles from Michael Sosnowski. Sosnowski rallied back from a 0-3 deficit in the third set, to claim a 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 win over Diego Garavito.
The win gives ORU its fourth straight win and propels the Golden Eagles over the .500 mark on the season at 8-7.
Match Recap
- Sosnowski's rally at No. 5 singles highlighted a back and forth match and gave the sophomore his fifth straight win in singles play. He also improved to 6-3 at the No. 5 position and 8-6 overall.
- Jan Pehnec won his team-high ninth match of the season, improving to 9-5 on the season. Pehnec claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles to win his fourth straight.
- Alejandro Capdequi helped ORU capture the win with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
- Sosnowski and Braxton Bates won their fifth straight doubles match and improved to 5-3 on the season with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 position.
- Ciaran Lavers and Amar Saletovic won their fourth straight match at No. 2 doubles and improved to 8-3 on the year.
