TULSA, Okla. - The Oral
Roberts University women's tennis team came up short in the Summit
League opener against Omaha Saturday falling 5-2 at the Case Tennis
Center.
The Golden Eagles fell behind in doubles dropping matches
at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions in the lineup giving Omaha an
early lead. ORU rallied to earn wins at No. 4 and No. 2 singles,
but the Mavericks were able to hold off the Golden Eagles who saw
their three-match win streak come to an end.
ORU picked up two big wins in singles before the Mavericks
controlled the bottom of the lineup to preserve the 5-2
victory.

Puentes extended her singles winning streak to three straight
with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
- Marizanne
Bouwer battled for the second point of the day for ORU winning
6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Bouwer also evened her record at No. 2
singles to 2-2 on the year.
- Brenda
Mercado Jove dropped a heartbreaker late in singles at the No.
3 position in the lineup. She fell to Jacqueline Baude, 6-1, 2-6,
7-5.

ORU quickly returns to the court Sunday as
they head across town to battle Tulsa. Action from the Case Tennis
Center is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start.
