ABILENE, Texas -
Oral Roberts University's 2013 spring season ended on Friday
afternoon with a 5-2 loss to Abilene Christian. The Golden Eagles
conclude the year with a 7-13 (0-6 Southland Conference)
record.
ACU (14-10, 5-1 SLC) took two of three doubles matches to start the
day, though the Golden Eagles were victorious on the top court. Jack
Busby and Jason
Mechali outlasted Borja Cortes and Nicklas Wingord, 8-7 (7-1).
But the second flight went to Guilherme Gesser and Nico Agritelley,
8-6, over Parker
Allen and Amar
Saletovic, while Jason Proctor and Marco Bensley won the third
flight, 8-6, over Fabian
Zierleyn and Michael
Sosnowski.
Zierleyn won the top singles flight, 6-4, 6-2, over Cortes, but the
next three courts belonged to the Wildcats. Wingord dropped
Saletovic at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2, and Gesser took down Busby on the
third court, 6-4, 6-0. Agritelley won the fourth flight, 7-6 (7-4),
4-6, 6-4, over Allen.
Sosnowski battled back to claim the fifth flight for ORU, 6-4, 3-6,
6-4, over Proctor. But the last court went to ACU with Bensley
taking down Cole
Guy, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
ORU seven victories are the most for the program since 2010.
