TULSA, Okla. - Vicky McIntyre led the way for the
Oral Roberts University women's basketball team Monday night as her
third double-double of the season helped propel the Golden Eagles
over Missouri State, 70-57.
McIntyre's third double-double of the season came with a
season-best 23 points and 12 rebounds. The senior narrowly missed a
triple-double for the second consecutive game as she added eight
blocks in the win.
Dorottya Balla knocked down four three-pointers - three of which
came in the second half - to finish with 16 points for ORU as the
Golden Eagles battled foul trouble in the second half.
The guards played an important role in the win finishing with
nine steals and a season-high 15 assists. Freshman Jordan Doyle was
credited with four steals while Doyle and Atoe' Jackson combined
for 12 assists.
The Turning Point
After leading most of the first half ORU saw Missouri
State cut the lead to eight points with 12:48 left in the game.
However, Atoe' Jackson hit a runner in the lane to push the Golden
Eagles lead back to 10 and start a 9-4 run for ORU.
It was the closest the Lady Bears would get in the second half
as ORU extended their lead to as many as 16 before closing out the
70-57 victory.
The Leaders
Oral Roberts: Vicky McIntyre tallied
her third double-double of the season with 23 points and 12
rebounds. She also finished a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw
line.
Missouri State: Kenzie Williams led MSU
offensively with 15 points as Hillary Chvatal pulled down 15
rebounds.
Inside the Box Score
- ORU had season-highs in both assists (15) and
steals (9) vs. Missouri State Monday night.
- The Golden Eagles have now scored at least 70 points in each of
their two wins this season as well as posting field goal
percentages above 40 percent.
- ORU held Missouri State to just 24 percent from the field. It
was the first time since holding Northwestern State to 26 percent
shooting on Jan. 25, 2014.
- Vicky McIntyre's 23 points is the most by an ORU player this
season coming in the fourth game of the year. Last season ORU did
not have 20 point scorer until Cristina Key's 25 points in the 10th
game vs. Nebraska.

- ORU opens its home schedule at 2-0 after wins over Tulsa and
Missouri State and sits at .500 on the season at 2-2.
- The Golden Eagles now lead the all-time series vs. Missouri
State 9-7 and even the series at 4-4 in games played since
2007.
