Oral Roberts University opened the 2014 spring season on Friday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to No. 25 Tulsa at the Case Tennis Center. ORU is now 0-1 on the season.

The Golden Hurricane (1-0) won both of the completed doubles matches to take the first point of the day. Jason Mechali and Fabian Zierleyn fell in the top flight to Clifford Marsland and Dylan McCloskey, 6-1, while Braxton Bates and Michael Sosnowski lost to Carlos Bautista and Matthew Kirby on the third court, 6-3.

ORU fell to Tulsa in all six singles matches, though several were very competitive. Newcomer Amar Saletovic fell to No. 71 Bautista, 6-0, 6-0, in the top flight, and Zierleyn lose to Juan Carvajal on court two, 6-4, 6-3.

Mechali lost to McCloskey in the third flight, 6-1, 6-3, and Parker Allen was bested by Daniel Santos, 6-1, 6-4, on court four. Sosnowski fell to Kirby in the fifth flight 6-0, 6-2 and Cole Guy was beaten by Chase Gordon, 6-4, 6-2, on court six.

The Golden Eagles continue the season on Saturday night, when they host South Dakota State. Firsts evr at Philcrest Hills Tennis Club is scheduled for 8 pm CT.
