TULSA, Okla.-The Oral Roberts men's basketball team can clinch
sole possession of the Summit League regular season championship
for the first time since the 2007-08 with a victory on Wednesday at
IPFW. The Golden Eagles (23-5, 15-1) and Mastodons (10-15, 4-11)
will tip off from Memorial Coliseum at 6 p.m.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast live in the Tulsa area on
KYAL-AM 1550. Free audio, will be made available through www.ORUGoldenEagles.com.
Video of the game can also be seen through the IPFW All-Access
subscription service at www.GoMastodons.com.
A rare Wednesday game on the schedule, ORU can clinch the
outright Summit League Championship with a victory, having claimed
at least a share of it by beating Western Illinois on Saturday
night. ORU is also looking to revenge a regular-season sweep by
IPFW last season, having beaten the Mastodons 65-54 in Tulsa
earlier this year. ORU leads the all-time series 7-3. Prior to this
year's first meeting, the last three games had all been decided by
three points.
Since upsetting the North Dakota State at home on January 26,
IPFW has lost five in a row. Frank Gaines leads the team with 19.8
points per game, while Trey McCorkle scores 11.6 on average. As a
team, they score 69.3 points per game but give up 74.1. Most
recently, they got a 30-point performance from Gaines but fell on
the road at Oakland, 93-82. The 82 points scored was the most since
scoring 86 in the first meeting against the Grizzlies.
