Box Score

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-The Golden Eagles (7-10-1, 4-2-1 Summit) will face Western Illinois (12-6-1, 5-2-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Summit League Championship game for the right to go to the NCAA College Cup.

ORU is coming off a spectacular last second win against IPFW in the semifinals to earn a spot in their second consecutive conference championship game. This is the second meeting between the two teams in less than a week. The first match came in the season finale, when ORU needed a win to qualify for the conference tournament. ORU stunned the No.1 seeded Leathernecks with a last minute goal by freshman Trevor Laffoon, earning the No.3 seed and a chance to play IPFW in the semifinals.

The Golden Eagles are led by All-Summit First Team selection Aaron Birk with seven goals and six assists. All-Freshman selection Nick Petolick has 68 saves on the season.

Western Illinois defeated the defending champions and No.4 seeded Oakland in the first round 1-0 on Friday. They will play in their first championship game since 2009 when the Leathernecks advanced to the College Cup. Western Illinois is led by senior keeper Andy Ryan who has saved 86 shots and allowed just 0.87 goals per game.

The Golden Eagles were able to score three second half goals against Ryan in their comeback win last Sunday.

The Leathernecks are also led by junior Nathan Bruinsma with five goals and two assists.
