FARGO, N.D.-Needing a victory to advance to the Summit League
Tournament, Oral Roberts instead saw its season come to an end with
a 21- loss at North Dakota State, Sunday at Ellig Sports
Complex.
The Golden Eagles conclude their 2010 season with a 9-8-1 overall
record and a 4-4-1 Summit League ledger.
ORU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when sophomore Whitney
Booth scored her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute.
Senior Tiffany
Heward provided the assist.
The lead stood until the first minute of the second half. North
Dakota State's (11-5-4, 6-2-1) Quin Ryan tied the game in the 46th
minute with her fifth goal of the season with an assist by Melissa
Wolfgram.
With the game tied at 1-1, the Bison benefitted from a foul call in
the box against the Golden Eagles in the 64th minute. After not
receiving an explanation as to who committed the foul, ORU head
coach Ryan
Bush objected to the point that he was eventually red-carded by
the lead official.
As a result of the foul call, Wolfgram attempted and converted a
penalty kick for a 2-1 NDSU lead and the final margin.
Senior goalkeeper Amanda
Wheeler made six saves for the Golden Eagles, while NDSU keeper
Kalani Bertsch stopped two shots.
