Golden Eagles Cruise Past Belmont, 3-0

TULSA – Oral Roberts University men's soccer team opened the home slate on Saturday night with a dominating 3-0 victory over Belmont at the ORU Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles improved to 1-2 with the win, while Belmont dropped to 1-2.

"This was a good win against a team that began the season with two good wins," said ORU men's soccer head coach Steve Hayes. "This was an important victory for us, not only because we created chances, but to also get the shutout."

ORU got on the board nearly 10 minutes into the opening half, as Michael Lind (Denver, Colo.) fed a ball through traffic to Juan Chang (Guatemala City, Guatemala), who converted his first goal of the season. With the score, Chang moved into a tie for eighth place all-time at ORU with 18 goals.

The Golden Eagles would build on their lead less than six minutes before halftime, as Josh Erickson (Anoka, Minn.) tallied his first career goal off an assist from Jordan Tatum (Grapevine, Texas).

ORU scored for the final time at the 57:50 mark, as Carlos Pinto (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) received a pass across the field from Vince Tizzone (Johannesburg, South Africa). Pinto fired the ball off of the fingertips of the Belmont keeper to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Techanchuk (Tulsa, Okla.) turned in a stellar performance, recording three saves in 70:15 minutes to earn his first win of the season.

The Golden Eagles will return to action on Sept. 12 at the UNLV Nike Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., against UC-Riverside.
