ORU Faces Cross-Town Rival #12 Tulsa on Monday

TULSA – The Oral Roberts University men's soccer team meets No. 12 Tulsa at 7 p.m. on Monday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium on the campus of the University of Tulsa. The Golden Eagles defeated Centenary by a score of 3-0 in their last action on Friday night to improve to 5-5-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Summit League play.

Scouting Tulsa
Tulsa is currently ranked No. 12 nationally and has won seven consecutive contests for an overall record of 9-3-1. Austin Neil leads the Golden Hurricane offensively with six points and 14 goals, while 11 other players have scored at least one goal. Goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey has played all 1200 minutes in goal, allowing 10 scores for a GAA of 0.75. Lacey has posted 48 saves for a save percentage of .825. Tulsa currently leads the overall series with ORU by an 18-2 margin.

Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles are coming off of a 3-0 win over Centenary on Friday to remain the only undefeated team in Summit League play. ORU has posted shutouts in all three conference games this season. Michael Lind scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Vince Tizzone to give ORU the 1-0 advantage. Josh Erickson converted his third goal of the year off a Jordan Tatum assist in the 86th minute, while Tatum assisted Juan Chang 18 seconds later to put the game out of reach. Goalkeeper Irving Peralta posted his third shutout of the season, and has now only allowed one score in the last 390 minutes in the net. The ORU defense has held opponents scoreless for the last 333 minutes of play.

After Monday's contest against cross-town rival Tulsa, the men return to Summit League play at UMKC on Saturday. ORU returns home against IUPUI on Nov. 1 and hosts Newman on Nov. 4.

Climbing the Charts

After only two seasons, junior Juan Chang has already started his assault on the ORU
record book.The Guatemala City, Guatemala, native recorded nine goals as a freshman and eight last season for a total of 17 during his first two seasons. Chang tallied his fourth goal of the season on Friday for his 21st career score, which currently ranks fifth in Golden Eagle history. Chang has also posted 47 points during his career at ORU, which ranks seventh in school history. Chang's two scores against Northeastern State marked the third time the ORU junior has scored multiple goals in a game. Chang's nine goals in 2006 rank ninth for a single season, and his two career hat tricks tie for the most goals in a game. Chang also tallied seven points in a match during the 2006 season, which rank second in a single game at ORU. Chang has led the team in goals, points, shots and shots on goal both seasons, and has garnered all-conference first-team honors both years as well.

Dishing it Out

Senior Jordan Tatum dished out two more assists in Friday's 3-0 win against Centenary for his seventh and eighth assists of the season. Tatum currently leads the Summit League in assists, and ranks in the top five nationally for assists per game (0.73). Tatum tops the team and ranks third in the conference with 14 points, while also leading the Golden Eagles with 25 shots. Tatum's eight assists tie for third all-time at ORU for a single season.

Defending the Net

The Golden Eagles have been stellar on defense as of late, holding their opponents scoreless for the last 333 minutes of play. ORU began the stretch with a with a 4-1 win over Northeastern State, and shutouts against IPFW, Eastern Illinois and Centenary. Junior goalkeeper Irving Peralta has only allowed one goal in the last 390 minutes of play, earning the Tulsa product back-to-back Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors. Peralta has posted a save percentage of .861 and a GAA of 0.73, which rank first and third, respectively, in the Summit League. Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Techanchuk played all 110 minutes against Eastern Illinois, earning his first shutout of the season. Techanchuk has posted a GAA of 1.85 with 21 saves in 535 minutes this season.
