SPRINGFIELD, Mo.
Shakira Duncan scored her third
game-winning goal of the season in the seventh minute as Oral
Roberts University blanked Missouri State 1-0, in non-conference
action on Friday night. With the win, the Golden Eagles improved to
5-4-1, while Missouri State fell to 4-6.
Duncan, who now has eight goals in 10 games, received a pass from
Marissa Ranberger from about five yards out and
slid it past MSU's goalkeeper Jackie Jasper at the 6:19 mark for
the match's only goal. The assist was Ranberger's third this
season, tying
Emily Gagnon for most on the squad.
Stef Gurley came up huge for the Golden Eagles
again, saving 12 shots to earn her fourth shutout and fourth
double-digit save performance of the season. In all, Missouri State
fired off a total of 18 shots.
Duncan and Ranberger each had two shots to lead the Golden Eagle
offensive attack.
With the shutout, Gurley moves in to second place in the all-time
shutout leaders with 16 in her career.
MSU's Jasper had three saves in a losing effort.
ORU returns to league play on Sunday, hosting Centenary at the ORU
Soccer Complex. Game time is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
