TULSA --
Michael Lind scored just over a minute in the
second-half but Oral Roberts University could not overcome two
Bradley goals in the first 5:06 as the Braves downed the Golden
Eagles 2-1, in non-conference action on Monday night at the ORU
Soccer Complex.
On a cold and rain-soaked field, Bradley (8-4-3) grabbed an early
advantage when Stephen Brust hammered a loose ball in the box past
Andrew Techanchuk for a 1-0 Braves lead. Brust's
goal came just a minute into the match.
Just a little over four minutes later, Joe Donoho scored the
eventual game-winner for the Braves at the 5:06 mark. Ephraim Beard
crossed a free-kick into the box that found Thiago Wong. Donoho
finished the play, heading the ball from Wong into the back of the
net.
After facing an early 2-0 deficit, the Golden Eagles (4-9-0)
settled down and started to control the play for the remainder of
the first-half. Both teams finished the first frame with nine shots
apiece.
The Golden Eagles finally had their hard work pay off with a tally
just 1:13 into the second-half to cut the Braves lead to 2-1. Miguel
Peralta found Lind in the box after taking a corner kick and
Lind blasted the ball past Bradley's goalkeeper Mike Haynes.
ORU continued to put pressure on Bradley in the second-half by out
shooting BU 8-5 but could not get the equalizer.
Lind had a chance to score his second goal of the match, but his
bullet from about 30 yards out just sailed wide of the net at the
80:09 mark.
Lind, Peralta,
Nikola Bogdanovic, and Tommy
Apitz each had three shots to lead the Golden Eagle offense
attack.
Techanchuk finished the night with four saves in a losing effort,
while Haynes had three saves for the Braves.
ORU returns to conference play on Saturday, hosting UMKC at 7
p.m.
