TULSA, Okla. - In her first game as a
Golden Eagle newcomer Correne
Walker (Greater Portmore, Jamaica) scored three
goals to lead ORU (1-0-0) to a 7-0 stomping over John Brown (0-1-0)
in the season opener on Friday night at the ORU Soccer Complex.
Senior midfielder Gentry
Detter (Claremore, Okla.) produced five points with one
goal and three helpers to inch her way closer to the career record

Golden Eagle Heather Hall's record of 20 assists.
In a span of a little over four
minutes, ORU broke the game open with three goals. Walker netted
her first tally of the night at the 8:28 mark with Detter and
Emily Gagnon (Broken Arrow, Okla.) getting the
assists. Just a little less than two minutes later Walker took
advantage of a rebound of a Marissa
Ranberger's (Golden, Colo.) strike to recored her
second goal. The freshman Ranberger also scored her first goal as a
Golden Eagle at the 12:42 mark to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Gagnon finished the scoring in the
first half scoring on a right-to-left strike from about 25 yards
out past JBU's keeper Natalie Wall in the 27th minute for a 4-0 ORU
lead.
The Golden Eagles did not sit on the
comfortable lead in the second half as they tallied three more
goals with the first one giving Walker the hat trick. Walker scored
on a rebound off a shot from Detter in the 60th minute.
At the 68th minute Detter found the
back of the net after Gagnon found her streaking through the
middle. Senior Tamara Waller (Sapulpa, Okla.)
capped off the scoring for the night knocking in a loose ball off a
corner kick from Detter. Leti Soto (Asuncion,
Paraguay) also picked up the assist.
Stef Gurley (Hurst,
Texas) and Shelbi Morrison (Claremore, Okla) split
time at goal to keep John Brown scoreless. Gurley and Morrison
combined for five saves.
